ABOUT

Hello!

Welcome to my website. Thank you for visiting! I’ve been in business for over 12 years, starting Samantha Martens Photography right out of college.

I have always photographed weddings and portraits, they are most definitely my passion! I feel truly happy when I know I have just snapped that “framer” for your wall. I could jump up and down! I am constantly whispering YES! under my breath because I know when I deliver you your gallery that you will smile just as I did when I captured it. I know, pretty corny, but hey that’s just me, a gleeful, corny, super silly family photographer that truly loves what she does!

I grew up on Cape Cod and I visit as often as I can, offering summer sessions and photographing weddings there throughout the season. Mostly though, my small town life in upstate New York is where you’ll find me. My studio is located in Johnstown, NY right in the foothills of the Adirondacks, West of Albany, and surrounded by beautiful backdrops to capture your most precious memories.

On a more personal note, I am a mom, a wife, a loving sister, daughter, friend, and I cherish all the people in my life. I collect old cameras and I still have my first 35mm from high school that my friend’s Dad gave me. I don’t think he or I realized it at the time, but he changed my life for the better with that gift. I never was without a camera after that!

While in college I met my husband and years later we have been blessed with two boys, two pups, and a wonderful home. My eldest son is currently seven, and I also have a 2 year old. I love being a mom; it has challenged me and rewarded me in ways I never could’ve imagined and I wouldn’t trade one single day.

A few things that make me instantly smile while I’m taking photos (I smile a lot behind the camera, and I’m not gonna lie, happy tears have been known to drop too) include wedding toasts, a child’s genuine smile (you know what I’m talking about), big family hugs, catchlights, golden lighting, big fluffy snow flakes, candid sibling photos, baby feet, newborn smiles, and that first kiss!

If you choose to hire me, you’ll soon learn the line between friend and client is quite blurry. After all, we are in this together and you can never have too many friends, am I right?! I truly hope you enjoyed this glimpse into my life and business. I would love the chance to get to know you and your special event or family and become your photographer for life.
